We took a short trip to Denver to visit my parents and brothers & families. My hubby is a good guy, we took off Sunday after Church and Choir and drove as far as Glenwood Springs, Colorado. We spent the night at the Sheperds, Jill's parents. They are so great, and have a INCREDIBLE home in the Colorado rockies overlooking the beautiful mountains and valleys.
We drove in to Denver the next morning and spent a few days before we had to get home (in time for Choir practice), even though our lives revolve around the choir - and that is NOT a complaint - Karl is good to drive me to see my family and enjoys being with them too.
Anyway, the last installment on the kitchen was lighting...
The old box came down along with 3 flourescent fixtures. I must admit I did like the light that the old box gave off, but I also like the sparkle of the new canned lights.
It was a bit of a guess deciding where they should go, this was somewhat dictated by the beams in the ceiling and the direction they ran, but I think we guessed well.
Handyman Hone found a couple of cool tools that a) cut an even 6 inch circle in the sheetrock and b) drilled through the beams without cutting extra holes for wiring. This 2nd tool was a flexible 5 foot drill bit and the damage and mess to the ceiling was minimal. We added an additional light over the bar counter, we've had 2 since the beginning, but the darker counter needed another light. Then 5 others along the wall counter, in front of the pantry and the fridge.
Still need to spakle a 2nd coat, paint and get new rims. Finally decided on backsplash tile, just need to patiently wait now!!
