Flash Mob!!

We had a really cool experience with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as we stopped in colonial Williamsburg, Virginia this week. This was a planned event with organizers in Williamsburg, they tried to keep a lid on it, but the locals heard "something" was happening and the crowd was thosands strong. I was so excited and even a little nervous because you never know if these kinds of things work. From my vantage point, it was wildly successful ! We ended up standing right behind the 3 soloists who started it all. They told us to stand around in the crowd randomly, and coincidentally discovered these very talented men in front of us!
So after the usual reenactment they do daily, our guys were to start the song, joined by assigned women and then steadily more until the wbole choir was involved. People were looking around, actal tourists who found theselves surrounded could tell something awesome was happening. We all wear nametags, even us guests of the choir, but we were instructedto take them off when we arrived. When the announcer stated that everyone there bad participated in a live performance of the world renowned Tabernacle choir, an audible (and really fun) gasp and applause filled the square! Within 30 minutes we heard it was on Facebook, my. Coworkers were sendinv me emails because due to our proximity to the soloists we were on KSL.
They told us we could blog about this event since it has gone viral on YouTube . They also said a. Edited version would be available soon without all the Williamsburg stuff, I am looking forward to seeing it, although I'm sure it didn't containthe excitement of being witness of it!

Kitchen Tile

The kitchen project is drawing to a close. It's taken a little while, because of cost (and fear of error).
To recap
*a year ago in February we ripped out the linoleum in the kitchen, hall and removed tile in front entry.

* we replaced it with hardwood

* 8 months later we finished removing the linoleum in the laundry/bath, replace it with tile. This required removing bath vanity, so we replaced that with granite.

* Once that was done, the old mirror looked awful, so we had to put in a new mirror.
* Next project was the kitchen counters, but we couldn't simply replace the tile, we wanted to replace the little desk unit that was never used as a desk. We added another wall cabinet to an area with a void. We had the electrical work run through the walls to add undercabinet lighting,

*We had to tear off the old tile, run more electricity to handle a life of rechargeable and electronic gear, rewire the ceiling and add canned lights....

*select tile for the backsplash, install the countertop and the tile

...and now for the final touches, the electrician is fixing the outlets to adjust for the depth of the tile and we must prime and paint the ceiling and cut a new piece of baseboard near the desk.....

and I will need to seal the tile and grout! I am really looking forward to just plugging everything back in and using this "new" kitchen!!! I can't imagine the chaos of an entire remodel project, this little step by step process has been pretty disruptive. BUT, I am very happy and not complaining, the time it took to make decisions carefully paid off, I am so happy with everything.
